Through our services, MySGTutors enables students and parents to connect with tutors for various learning arrangements including private tutoring, group tutoring, online tutoring sessions and homework help at the sole discretion of MySGTutors.
All visitors of the site, whether registered or not, are considered “users.” Once an individual registers by creating an account or requesting a tutor, the user becomes a “member.”
There are two types of members:
- Client – a student or parent who hires a tutor through MySGTutors
- Tutor – an individual registered on MySGTutors’ website to provide tuition services
Members acknowledge and agree that the services provided through this website are the sole property of MySGTutors. We may, at our discretion, offer additional services, update or revise existing services, or discontinue any part of our services. These Terms will apply to all such changes unless otherwise stated.
All services are provided “AS IS,” and MySGTutors assumes no liability for missed lessons, communication issues, scheduling conflicts, or any personalization preferences.
3. Registration, Accounts, and Security
To register and become a member, you must be in good standing and not previously barred from receiving our services.
When registering, MySGTutors may collect information such as your name, birth date, gender, occupation, and academic details, depending on client preferences. Users must provide accurate, current, and complete information at registration and keep their details updated. Failure to do so may result in termination of access.
Tutors acknowledge that certain information may be shared with clients for matching purposes (e.g., qualifications, teaching experience). Sensitive personal information such as passwords, contact numbers, and dates of birth will remain private in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify MySGTutors immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. MySGTutors will not be liable for losses resulting from unauthorized access due to your failure to safeguard your credentials.
4. Rates, Commission, and Payment
All payments are made in Singapore dollars (SGD).
Tuition rates listed on our site serve as guidelines. Final rates depend on client requirements, tutor availability, and mutual agreement between both parties, confirmed via an official invoice issued by MySGTutors.
Clients are responsible for timely payment as stated on the invoice. Proof of payment (e.g., transaction receipt) must be retained.
MySGTutors typically collects tuition fees directly from clients and resolves payment with tutors. Clients who bypass the agency and pay tutors directly remain liable for the agency’s commission. Tutors must not collect agency commissions from clients directly without notifying MySGTutors.
Commission adjustments or refunds may apply in cases of cancellations, disputes, or tutor non-performance, subject to MySGTutors’ discretion.
5. Relationship Between Client and Tutor
- Clients may request a replacement tutor or cancel arrangements after the first lesson but must pay for all lessons conducted.
- A minimum commitment of one (1) lesson applies once a tutor has been confirmed.
- If lessons are cancelled before the first session, clients will be liable for an administrative fee equivalent to one lesson.
- Cancellations or postponements made less than two (2) hours before a lesson start time will incur a fee of 50% of one lesson.
- Changes to the course within the first four (4) weeks must be notified to MySGTutors and MySGTutors may adjust the commission accordingly.
6. Termination
MySGTutors expects all tutors and clients to act professionally and ethically. Grounds for termination of accounts include but are not limited to:
- Breach of these Terms
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Non-payment of fees
- Unethical conduct or poor performance
- Abuse, harassment, or unprofessional behavior
Termination may result in suspension of access, deletion of accounts, and barring of future use of services. Clients and tutors may also terminate their accounts by submitting a written request at least seven (7) days prior to the intended termination date.
7. Limitation of Liability and Indemnification
While MySGTutors strives to ensure accuracy in information provided, we do not guarantee the qualifications or performance of tutors. Tuition results may vary, and we do not promise specific outcomes.
MySGTutors will not be liable for disputes, conflicts, or misconduct between clients and tutors. Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless MySGTutors, its employees, and partners from claims, costs, or damages arising from the use of our services.
8. Intellectual Property Rights
All materials, content, logos, graphics, and software on this website are the property of MySGTutors and its licensors. You may not copy, distribute, modify, or exploit any content without prior written permission.
9. Restrictions and Obligations
You must not misuse this website or its services, impersonate others, submit false information, or violate any applicable laws. MySGTutors reserves the right to deny services to clients or tutors at its sole discretion.
10. Website Rules and Conduct
The Website is for personal, non-commercial use. Prohibited activities include distributing harmful content, reverse engineering, spamming, or overloading the system. MySGTutors reserves the right to remove inappropriate content and suspend offending accounts.
11. Communication Services
This Website may provide forums, chat areas, or messaging features. You agree to use them responsibly and not to post unlawful, abusive, or offensive material. MySGTutors is not responsible for content posted by third parties.
12. Arbitration
Any disputes arising under these Terms will be resolved through binding arbitration in Singapore. The prevailing party shall be entitled to recover legal costs and fees.
